The Sudanese army blames paramilitary fighters for the attack and for causing damage to the aircraft’s fuel system. The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) denied these allegations and reaffirmed its commitment to the extended humanitarian ceasefire. Both military factions agreed to extend the ceasefire for an additional three days, beginning Thursday at midnight local time.
However, the ceasefire has had only a limited impact, as army jets continued to attack RSF positions in Khartoum throughout the night.

The previous cease-fire enabled tens of thousands of people to attempt to flee to safety, while dozens of countries coordinated evacuations. The Turkish defence minister has stated that efforts to rescue Turkish citizens from Wadi Seidna and the Red Sea port city of Port Sudan will continue.
Hundreds of people have been killed and tens of thousands have been displaced since the conflict began 14 days ago. The fighting has devastated the capital and its environs, which had a population of approximately 10 million until recently. This has left individuals without food, water, and fuel.
