The announcement, made by Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, signifies a significant move towards enhancing the country’s regulatory framework and vital statistics collection.

has approved the appointment of three new Executive Commissioners for the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) and the redeployment of an existing one, pending confirmation by the Nigerian Senate. The appointees are as follows:

Furthermore, President Tinubu is set to launch a comprehensive birth, death, and marriage registration portal. This system will encompass various civil registrations, including birth, stillbirth, attestation of birth, adoption, marriage notification, divorce notification, migration, and death. The Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), Nasir Kwarra, highlighted the government’s commitment to enhancing civil registration data collection and vital statistics dissemination.

The launch of the e-CRVS (Electronic Civil Registration and Vital Statistics) system reflects a decade-long initiative from 2023 to 2030, with the goal of achieving the Sustainable Development Goal related to civil registration and vital statistics in Nigeria.
