Nigeria Governors’ Forum () yesterday met with at his Lagos residence, President Bola Tinubu emphasized the urgent need for collaboration between state governments and the Federal Government to ensure the nation’s peace and stability.

The president condemned the recent spate of killings in , where at least 160 people lost their lives and numerous others were injured in coordinated attacks across 15 communities.

During the meeting held on Tuesday, President Tinubu directed security agencies to intervene promptly and identify those responsible for the violence in Plateau State, underlining the importance of restoring peace for the nation to progress.

Properties worth millions of naira were also destroyed in the attacks that occurred between Saturday and Monday.

President Tinubu stressed, “Nigeria needs peace and stability to move forward. Nigeria belongs to all of us, and we have to take care of it.” He acknowledged the presence of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara at the meeting, commending him for his peaceful efforts in resolving political challenges within the state.

, in a statewide broadcast on Monday, reassured the people of Rivers State that the president’s intervention had positively impacted the crisis resolution in the state. President Tinubu, expressing gratitude for Fubara’s statesmanship, emphasized the significance of peace for effective governance under his leadership.

President Tinubu also revealed discussions with the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, and the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Atiku Bagudu, regarding elements in the 2024 budget currently before the National Assembly. Emphasizing the need for joint responsibility, he called for closer collaboration between federal and state governments to drive rapid infrastructural development across the country.

In his closing remarks, President Tinubu urged a shift from traditional road classifications and advocated for a unified approach to development. He emphasized the swift return of the , urging governments at all levels to prioritize the well-being and future preparedness of Nigeria’s children.
