However, the local government chairmen insisted on even graver figures, highlighting 155 fatalities, with Bokkos alone registering 125 deaths and Barkin-Ladi witnessing a rise to 30 from an earlier reported 17 fatalities.

In addition to the tragic loss of lives, the police reported that 221 houses were set ablaze, numerous vehicles and motorcycles burnt, and multiple villages in both affected local government areas faced the ruthless onslaught.

Efforts to assist the injured have been underway, with over 1,000 individuals rushed to Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) and other medical facilities in Jos for urgent treatment.
