The impeachment was driven by a series of revelations, with Hon. Soneye Damilola Kayode, representing Obafemi Owode Constituency, shedding light on the intricate details. Kayode disclosed that Oluomo had been misleading members by claiming that the governor, Dapo Abiodun, was not providing funds to the House.

However, investigations revealed that the governor had indeed been allocating funds, and Kunle Oluomo allegedly embezzled the money intended for the lawmakers.
According to Kayode, Oluomo’s tactics included inciting discord among members and creating a false narrative about the lack of financial support from the governor.

The disgraced Speaker reportedly took advantage of his position, manipulating information and diverting funds meant for the assembly’s use.

“We never wanted him, but the leadership of the party thought he was a former Speaker, so we should allow him to continue as a Speaker. We all agreed as faithful party persons,” Kayode stated.

The deception went as far as Oluomo claiming that the governor hadn’t approved any funds for the assembly, leaving members unaware of the financial support they were entitled to. One example highlighted was the quarter’s allowance, where funds allocated for the renovation were allegedly misappropriated by Kunle Oluomo.

In response to these allegations, 18 members jointly took a stand against the ousted Speaker, expressing their dissatisfaction with his leadership style. The decision to replace Oluomo with Hon. Elemide as the new Speaker marks a significant shift in the assembly’s leadership.
