Senator Dino Melaye, who is vying for the position of Kogi State Governor under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has promised to prioritise the promotion of unity among the people of the state and to boost the state’s development if he emerges victorious in the November 11, 2023 election.
Senator Dino Melaye has reportedly made a promise to state leaders from Kogi Central during a meeting held in Abuja on Monday.

According to him, the PDP governorship primary election result demonstrated the strong sense of unity among the citizens of the State.
In a statement, Melaye acknowledged the overwhelming support he has received from his party and the people of Kogi state. He emphasised that he will not underestimate the importance of this support. The individual expressed that this support will serve as a driving force for them to work diligently towards the advancement and cohesion of their State.

The endorsement of his candidature by the leaders of Kogi Central signifies their confidence in his ability to fulfil his promises to the people.
According to Chief Patrick Adaba, who represented the zone at the meeting, Kogi Central has pledged to provide Senator Melaye with the necessary votes to secure a victory.

According to Adaba, the candidature of Dino for governorship holds promise for the entire state, regardless of regional affiliation. Adaba further implored the citizens of Kogi West to seize this momentous occasion and secure a governor from their region.
Hon. Philip Salawu, the former Deputy Governor of the state, also shared his thoughts on Senator Dino’s victory in the primary election, stating that it was a manifestation of divine intervention.
The PDP governorship candidate has been urged to persist in his reconciliatory efforts, which have garnered him support from Nigerians beyond the borders of Kogi State. This call was made by an individual who charged the candidate to remain steadfast in his approach.
According to Engr Sam Uhuotu, the Chairman of the State PDP, the rotation of the governorship position among the three senatorial districts in the state is expected to promote unity and peaceful coexistence among the diverse ethnic groups in the region.

During the event, Kola Ologbondiyan, the former National Publicity Secretary of the party, also spoke and stated that the party’s candidate is widely recognised in the State and requires minimal introduction as he is a household name.
According to him, it is widely known among the people of Kogi state that Dino Melaye has consistently championed their cause for better governance. Senator Dino has promised to revive the fortunes of the state upon his election into office in November.
