In yet another distressing incident, gunmen have kidnapped an individual believed to be a serving police officer in Toro Local Government Area (LGA) of Bauchi State. This alarming development comes shortly after security agencies successfully secured the release of 33 kidnap victims in Alkaleri LGA of the same state.

 

According to reports, chaos erupted in Toro town on Friday night when the armed assailants descended on the area. The gunmen unleashed sporadic gunshots, sending shockwaves through the community, before forcibly abducting an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP).

The prevailing threat of kidnapping has significantly impacted economic activities in Toro LGA, as residents are now apprehensive about going about their daily businesses for fear of falling victim to these criminal acts.

Ismail Haruna Dabo, the dedicated member representing Toro Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has unequivocally condemned this incident.

He expressed deep regret over the unfortunate occurrence, particularly in the context of the challenging economic situation in the country. Dabo reassured the people of his continued legislative efforts to address and ultimately eradicate this menace from their midst.

 

Efforts to obtain a response from the Bauchi State Police Command have been met with difficulty. Despite attempts to contact SP Ahmed Wakili, the public relations officer, there has been no response to phone calls as of now.
