Terrorists abduct 16 people in Fresh Kaduna Community Attack.

 

In yet another brazen assault on the Dogon-noma community in Kaduna State, terrorists abducted 15 women and one man in the early hours of Saturday. This attack follows closely on the heels of a similar incident just three days prior, underscoring the persistent threat of insecurity in the region.

Residents of the area, including Mr. Istifanus Ma’aji, provided harrowing accounts of the attack, highlighting the chaotic and distressing circumstances surrounding the abduction. According to Ma’aji, the exact number of casualties and abductees remains uncertain as many villagers fled for their lives upon the assailants’ arrival.

The assailants, reportedly armed and numbering in large groups, descended upon the village at 5:30 am, unleashing a barrage of indiscriminate gunfire. The lack of a definitive casualty count underscores the ongoing chaos and uncertainty gripping the community in the aftermath of the assault.

Former Council chairman Cafra Caino echoed Ma’aji’s sentiments, emphasizing the community’s vulnerability to such attacks. He recalled a previous onslaught in 2019 that claimed the lives of 74 individuals, highlighting the recurring cycle of violence and trauma endured by the residents.

The surge in attacks and kidnappings in Kaduna State, particularly in Kajuru and Chikun Local Government Areas, has fueled heightened tension and concern among residents. The latest incident further underscores the urgent need for decisive action to address the escalating security crisis plaguing the region.

Efforts to obtain an official response from the state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.  The lack of a formal statement from law enforcement authorities only exacerbates the sense of unease and frustration among affected communities grappling with the aftermath of yet another brazen attack.
