Former CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele Granted Unconditional Release by Court
In a significant legal development, the Federal Capital Territory High Court has issued an order for the unconditional and immediate release of the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele.
This decision was made by Justice O.A. Adeniyi in response to an ex-parte motion filed by Emefiele himself.
The ex-parte motion filed by Mr. Emefiele sought his release from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) while awaiting the hearing and determination of the originating motion.

Moreover, the court directed the 3rd and 4th respondents, who are the Executive Chairman and the EFCC, to unconditionally release Mr. Emefiele from detention without delay. Alternatively, they were instructed to produce him in court on the date set for the hearing of the substantive motion on notice. There is also the possibility that the court may grant him bail during this process.
