Crisis Erupts In Nasarawa Assembly As Two Lawmakers Claim Speakership
Two speakers have emerged to lead the 7th Nasarawa State House of Assembly.
The two speakers are Ibrahim Balarabe and Daniel Ogazi, both from the western region of the state.
The clerk announced the postponement of the June 6 inauguration of the seventh assembly and election of the speaker and vice speaker due to security concerns.

The House of Assembly was barricaded by security personnel, compelling the Ogazi faction and their supporters to remain on the premises until 6 p.m.
Eleven members at one of the state ministries elected Ibrahim Balarabe and Jacob Kudu as speaker and deputy, respectively, to lead the seventh assembly. They were sworn in by the acting clerk of the Assembly, Ibrahim Musa.
13 members elected Ogazi and Adamu Oyanki as speaker and deputy, respectively, at the assembly complex.

Balarabe and Ogazi are both members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the party in power.
Governor Abdullahi Sule subsequently met with members of his faction in Lafia at the Nasarawa State Government House.
