Edo Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu Declares He Will Win Obaseki’s Candidate in 2024 Gubernatorial Election
Edo State’s Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, has emphatically stated his commitment to triumph over Governor Godwin Obaseki’s chosen candidate in the upcoming gubernatorial election slated for next year.
Shaibu conveyed this determination during a Monday evening appearance on a TVC program, asserting that the support of the people was behind him, undeterred by Obaseki’s efforts to influence the electorate.

In his resolute declaration, Shaibu emphasized that his victory would stem from the genuine desire of Edo people to have one of their own as their leader.
He criticized Obaseki for permitting certain individuals with vested interests to create divisions between them and scrutinized the governor’s management style.

Shaibu remarked, “I will defeat the so-called candidate of the governor, not because I have the power, but because Edo people want their own, and I am their own. Edo people do not want importation; they want their own.”
Despite acknowledging the challenges posed by Obaseki and his allies, Shaibu remained steadfast, stating, “When I said I was pressed, but not distressed, I understand the kind of intimidation and oppression I have gone through.”
