A fire outbreak has been reported at one of the buildings located within the palace of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.
According to reports, a fire broke out in the building at approximately 11:25 PM on Friday, allegedly caused by an electric appliance that exploded.

According to an anonymous source within the palace, there were no reported casualties and no cultural artefacts were damaged during the incident.
According to the source, the fire department swiftly responded to the incident and arrived at the location to extinguish the flames shortly after it had ignited.

Comrade Moses Olafare, the Director of Media Public Affairs at Ooni’s Palace, has confirmed the incident upon being contacted.
According to his statement, the cause of the fire was a power surge that resulted in the explosion of electrical devices within the impacted unit.

According to a statement made by Olafare, the inferno that occurred at a section of the palace premises was contained within the affected building. The swift response of the Government Fire Service, OAU Fire Service, and Palace Emergency Control Unit was instrumental in extinguishing the fire and preventing it from spreading further.
