The relationship between Labour Party presidential flagbearer and Rivers state governor Nyesom Wike has sparked a contentious political debate.
Reports making rounds states that Wike, a leader of the Peoples Democratic Party has joined the Labour Party in the run-up to the 2023 general elections after meeting Peter Obi.
Although Wike has made it clear that he will not support Atiku Abubakar’s bid to become the PDP’s flag bearer, he has continued to rally support for the PDP in Rivers state in advance of the 2023 elections.

In a recent development, the governor of Rivers state invited presidential candidate Peter Obi to commission a significant project in Rivers state.
This is in accordance with Wike’s invitation to Peter Obi to officially open the Nkpolu-Oroworukwo Flyover on November 17, 2022.
