Sheikh Lawal, Popular Islamic scholar, dies at 59
Sheikh Hamzah Muhammad Lawal, a well-known Islamic scholar, has passed away.
This online newspaper gathered that Sheikh Lawal was the secretary general of the Thaqalayn Cultural Foundation and a follower of the Shi’a sect.
He passed away unexpectedly Thursday night. Age-wise, he was 59.

According to information provided to this newspaper, he was buried in accordance with Islamic customs at the Bachama Road Cemetery in Kaduna State.
“We are deeply pained and saddened to learn the sudden death of our beloved and respected Sheikh Hamzah Muhammad Lawal,” said Abdulrahman Matawalle, the National Secretary of the Nigeria Shia Ahlulbayt Islam, in a statement on Saturday.
“Ahlulbayt Nigeria offers its sincere condolences to the victim’s family, the Ahlul Bayt community, and the Muslim community as a whole.
“Sheikh Hamzah M. Lawal was a wise man who had a wonderful devotion to the Ahlul Bayt (as) and the cause of Islam.

All of Nigeria’s Muslim Ummah will forever hold a special place in their hearts and minds for his priceless knowledge and ideas. He always brought color, vigor, and positivity to religious conversations and discourse.
“Sheikh Hamzah’s premature death is a great loss for our neighborhood, the Muslim Ummah, and all of Nigeria.
“We will always treasure the vivid memories of Sheikh Hamzah M. Lawal’s contribution to Islamic knowledge and morality in accordance with Ahlul Bayt’s teachings.
We ask Allah (SWT) to pardon all of his transgressions and grant him eternal rest in the presence of his masters. – Ahlul Bayt We also ask Allah to grant his family, the Ahlul Bayt, and the Muslim Ummah the fortitude to endure this terrible loss.

Sheikh Hamzah’s wife and five children are his only survivors.
