Google Doodle honours ‘The Sun Queen’ of solar energy

Maria Telkes became an employee at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she was a member of the Solar Energy Committee (MIT).

During World War II, the United States government approached her with a request for her assistance in developing a solar distiller that could transform saltwater into potable water.
