1) There are indications that the Federal Government is preparing to evacuate approximately 5,500 Nigerians from Sudan via the Egyptian city of Luxor. It was reported that the Federal Government was seeking Egypt’s assistance in order to move the stranded Nigerians to Luxor.

2) Another three-story building collapsed in Lagos State’s Apapa Government Reserved Area on Sunday. The construction site on Ladipo Oluwole Street in Apapa collapsed less than two weeks after a seven-story building on Banana Island in the state fell.

 

3) Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State has approved the reinstatement of Alhaji Aliyu Maraca, the suspended Emir of Yandoto. This was stated in a statement signed by the State Government Secretary, Alhaji Kabiru Balarabe, in Gusau on Sunday. Aliyu was suspended for turbaning a criminal leader.

4) Mr. Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, has accused desperate politicians of using politics to sow discord among Nigerians. Obi, the former governor of Anambra State, was in Onitsha on Sunday to celebrate the Sallah holiday with the Muslim community. He stated that Nigerians are a single people.

5) The Ekiti State unit of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has paraded seven individuals for alleged theft, false alert, and drug-related offences. Fakuade Ayodeji, aged 38, Michael Samuel, aged 39, Bamidele Atowoju, aged 25, Pelumi Ojo, aged 23, Temitope Oke, aged 32, and Makinde Oluwaropo, aged 26, are the suspects. They were apprehended in separate Ado Ekiti and Ondo State locations.

 

6) Senator Chimaroke Nnamani, the former governor of Enugu State, has demanded that Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi withdraw his petition against the president-elect, Bola Tinubu. 7) The All Progressives Congress (APC) has disbanded the Tinubu-Shettima Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), which was established last year for the party’s 2023 presidential election. The dissolution was announced in a joint statement signed by the organization’s director general, governor, and secretary.

8) During the weekend, power generation to the national grid dropped below 4,000 megawatts, leaving customers across the country with a limited supply of electricity. Checks of data supplied by the National System Operator, NSO, an independent arm of the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, revealed that only 18 of the country’s 25 power plants supplied electricity to the grid.

 

9) On Sunday, seven people, including two children, were killed when a bus crashed and caught fire along the Lagos-Ibadan expresswat. According to reports, fourteen additional passengers were injured in the crash that occurred at the OPIC axis of the highway.

10) Supremacy clashes between the Aiye and Eiye confraternities at Ijanikin in the Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos State have resulted in the death of two people, including a student at Lagos State University and a tiler.
