1) Tinubu speaks of Government of National Unity


Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the incoming president of Nigeria, dampened the hopes of proponents of a government of national unity on Thursday by emphasising competence over such a political arrangement. He stated that his goal was greater than a government of national unity and that he would rather select cabinet members based on their national competence than their religious affiliation.


2) IPOB fires back at GTI for naming it the 10th most deadliest Terrorists group in the world

The Indigenous People of Biafra has dismissed the IEP Global Terrorism Index Report of 2022 as a plot by the United States government and other foreign agencies to blackmail and demonise the group. The pro-Biafran group responded to the Institute for Economics and Peace report that ranked it as the tenth “deadliest terror group.”


3) Naja’atu Mohammed accuse Buhari of Rigging Feb 25 Polls

A supporter of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the February 25 election, Atiku Abubakar, Naja’atu Mohammed, has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of rigging the election in favour of the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Tinubu. She also criticised Buhari for alleged violations of the rule of law, blatant corruption, and other vices that, according to her, have characterised governance over the past eight years.

Dr. Seye Dairo, Campaign Director-General for Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship Candidate Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, aka Jandor, in Lagos State, has resigned. In a letter announcing his resignation, Dairo provided no explanation for his decision.

On Thursday, security personnel attached to the convoy of Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai clashed with Shi’ite members in the Bakin Ruwa Area of Igabi Local Government Area.



6) APC Guber Candidate and INEC denies contract deals

Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed, the governorship candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State, was denied a printing contract for sensitive election materials by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) yesterday. The commission refuted rumours that it awarded the contract to a company owned by the gubernatorial candidate.


7) Feb 25 polls: Six Arrested for Electoral offences


The Benue State Police Command announced that six individuals were arrested for various electoral offences during the recently concluded presidential and National Assembly elections. SP Catherine Anene, the command’s spokesperson, stated in a statement made available to the media that the suspects were arrested for illegal possession of firearms, theft of ballot boxes, and illegal possession of nine Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs).


8) Guber polls: NPC calls for calm

On the eve of the governorship and state assembly elections, the National Peace Committee (NPC) and former president Goodluck Jonathan have called for calm and warned politicians against do-or-die politics. In a statement, the chairman of the Nigerian People’s Congress (NPC), General Abdulsalami Abubakar, stated that the call was necessitated by the open threats of intimidation and violence by certain elements of the society.

Mr. Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, has described the February 25 election as the worst since Nigeria’s independence in 1960 and a setback for the democratic process. Yesterday, when he appeared on a national television programme, he stated that he was determined to challenge the election process and the APC’s declaration of Bola Tinubu as the winner.

Notorious Lagos thug, Musiliu ‘MC Oluomo’ Akinsanya, has threatened Igbos who will not vote for the All Progressives Congress in Saturday’s governorship election, to stay at home. “We have begged them. If they don’t want to vote for us, it is not a fight. Tell them, mama Chukwudi, if you don’t want to vote for us, sit down at home. Sit down at home,” MC Oluomo said in pidgin English as seen in a viral video shared on Twitter. He was charging APC supporters.

Statewide ADC Rivers candidates The African Democratic Congress (ADC) announced the suspension of its Rivers State governorship candidate, Tonte Ibraye, and his running mate, Tonto Dike, along with a number of other party members, including Ode Lawrence-Gbagire, Eke Iheanyi-Eugene, Deinma Emmanuel, Luckyman Egila, and Hamza Victor-Chukere. The suspension was announced in a statement co-signed by the State Chairman of the party, Leader Sampson, the Deputy Chairman, Alali Ikpoemugh, and the state Secretary, Gabriel Patterson-Unyeowaji.
