Delta Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has taken decisive action by approving the suspension of the Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Mr. Omoun Perekebena Perez, over alleged funds diversion to a private account. The funds in question were designated for the ‘Accelerated Agricultural Development Scheme (AADS).

 

The suspension, revealed in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Kingsley Emu, is linked to the review of the Greenhouse project’s implementation by the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

To investigate claims and perceived infractions related to the scheme’s management, a seven-man committee chaired by Dr. Kingsley Emu has been constituted. Governor Oborevwori’s suspension of Commissioner Omoun Perez aims to facilitate an unimpeded investigation.

The statement also outlined that Mr. Bennett Ezon-Abode Agamah, Permanent Secretary; Oki Preowei Yintareke, Assistant Director, Agricultural Engineering; and Mr. Gabriel Idiatacheko, Chief Accountant, are to proceed on compulsory leave until further notice, following civil service extant rules.

Emphasizing that the suspension is not a presumption of guilt, the government stated that it is a necessary measure to uphold the sanctity of the investigative processes, ensuring a fair and unbiased examination of the alleged financial misconduct.
