Residents of in Delta State have taken legal action against the Nigerian Army, alleging breaches of their fundamental human rights.

The lawsuit, identified as FHC/WR/CS/41/2024, was filed before a federal high court in Warri on Thursday. The plaintiffs are seeking N200 billion in both general and exemplary damages.

 

The legal action stems from an incident that occurred on March 14, wherein a group of army personnel, including a lieutenant colonel, two majors, one captain, and 12 soldiers, were reportedly killed in the Okuama community. Subsequently, military operations have been conducted in Okuama in an effort to apprehend the perpetrators.
