Tragic Death of Female Evangelist in Aba Guest House Sparks Suspected Murder Investigation
The Abia State Police Command has officially confirmed the tragic demise of a female evangelist, Happiness Echieze, within an Aba guest house, stating that it is being treated as a suspected case of murder.
Online news outlets in the state have been rife with claims that the evangelist passed away during what was referred to as a ‘marathon se….x’ session with Bishop Timothy Otu of a pentecostal church.
The Abia State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Maureen Chioma Chinaka, provided details on the unfolding investigation.

According to the police statement, the incident was reported by Mr. Godwin Akpan on August 13, who resides at Jubilee Guest House in Ovom village, Obingwa LGA.
The report indicated that the unfortunate event occurred on the evening of August 12.
The police statement read, “It was revealed that on the evening of August 12, 2023, around 09:25 PM, a clergyman named Timothy Otu (male), associated with Agape Evangelical Ministry at Obikabia Junction in Obingwa LGA, had checked into the guest house along with a woman named Happiness Echieze (female) from Isialangwa LGA, Abia State. Happiness Echieze was 43 years of age.”
Mr. Akpan reported entering the hotel room of the clergyman around 12:00 am on the same date and discovering the lifeless body of Happiness Echieze.
The statement continued, “She was found unclothed, and a white substance was emanating from her mouth and nose. Regrettably, the clergyman was absent from the scene.”

Immediate preliminary investigations have been launched into the matter, with the deceased’s body transported to the SDA Mortuary in Aba, awaiting an autopsy examination.
The bishop, Timothy Otu, has been apprehended and the case transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for discreet investigations.
Before the police reports emerged, various online media sources in Abia State reported that Evangelist Happiness Echieze had passed away in the guest house during a sexual encounter with Pastor Timothy Otu, whom she was allegedly believed to have had a relationship with prior to the incident.
With investigations underway, the circumstances surrounding Evangelist Echieze’s untimely death continue to unfold, casting a somber cloud over the community as the authorities delve deeper into the matter to uncover the truth behind this heartbreaking event.
