The heartbreaking procession follows the announcement by the Defence Headquarters on August 14, which revealed the devastating loss of 36 officers who were killed in battle. These valiant soldiers had been on a mission when their helicopter was tragically shot down by insurgents in the Zungeru area of Niger State.

The fallen troops had been deployed to Kundu village in Wushishi Local Government Area in response to recent bandit attacks that had left the area terrorized.
