The Court of Appeal has reaffirmed its order to remove Abba Yusuf from the position of governor in Kano State. The chief registrar of the Court of Appeal, Umar Bangari, addressed journalists in Abuja, shedding light on the matter.

The appellate court acknowledged a clerical error in a portion of the certified true copy of its judgment, which had been cited by Mr. Yusuf and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to support their claim of victory in the gubernatorial contest held on March 18.

Mr. Bangari clarified that the clerical error, while present, did not invalidate or alter the findings and conclusions of the Court. He assured that the correction of this error would take place once the involved parties formally file the necessary applications.
Highlighting Order 23 Rule 4 of the Court of Appeal Handbook, Mr. Bangari emphasised the court’s authority to rectify any clerical error identified by either the court or the parties involved.

Contrary to speculations, he underscored that the court’s judgment remains valid. The Court is empowered to correct such clerical error, and it will be done as appropriate,” he affirmed.
This development adds a new layer of complexity to the political landscape in Kano State, as legal processes unfold to address the clerical error and uphold the integrity of the court’s decision.
