President has ordered a probe into the activities of some former appointees of Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, utilizing the services of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The investigation centres around allegations of misuse of public funds and office by the previous cabinet members.

Among those under investigation are Godwin Emefiele, the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, and Sadiya Umar-Farouk, the former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development.

Emefiele was suspended by President Tinubu upon assuming office, arrested by the EFCC, and recently granted bail of N300 million by a federal high court in Abuja.

President Tinubu also appointed a special investigator, Jim Obazee, who indicted Emefiele for alleged misconduct during his tenure.

Additionally, Emefiele was also indicted by the EFCC in an ongoing investigation of fraudulent foreign exchange transactions during the last nine years at the CBN.

Sadiya Umar-Farouk is being investigated for allegedly misappropriating N37,170,855,753.44 during her tenure.
