Ex-ABU VC, Bursar Arraigned For N1bn Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission () has charged Professor Ibrahim Garba and Ibrahim Shehu Usman, the former vice chancellor and bursar of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, respectively, with money laundering.

The EFCC said in a statement on Thursday that they were charged with eight counts of theft and money laundering involving more than N1 billion before Justice A.A. Bello of the Kaduna State High Court.

The two were arrested after a petition accusing them of stealing funds intended for the popular Kongo Conference Hotel in Zaria led to months of covert investigation.

According to the findings of the investigation, the defendants are accused of stealing more than one billion Naira and transferring it to their individual accounts from various institution accounts.
