10 things that have happened in the Rivers State House of Assembly.

The defection occurred approximately two weeks after the former governor of the state, now the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, disclosed that 27 lawmakers in the state were opposed to Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

In defecting from the PDP, the political party platform under which they were elected to the Rivers State House of Assembly, the seats of the 27 former lawmakers have become vacant,” stated the PDP.

The PDP has called on the Speaker of the Rivers State House Assembly to promptly adhere to the law and declare the seats of the 27 former lawmakers vacant. Additionally, the party has cautioned the former lawmakers against presenting themselves as members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, emphasizing that continuing to do so could lead to charges of impersonation, a serious criminal offense.
