Dear Rt. Hon. (Elder) , The Executive Governor of Delta State.

I am writing to you to address a pressing issue that holds immense significance for the education community in Delta State – the payment of teachers’ arrears.

On November 6, 2023, I expressed my deep-seated worries about this matter and urged you to honour the promise you made to teachers. It is my sincere hope that, through this correspondence, the long-awaited remuneration is finally disbursed.

While conducting my research, I came across an article written by Aruoriwo Ivovi, titled: “Delta State Governor Approves Payment of Outstanding Promotion Arrears to Public Servants.” In paragraph 4 of the article, it is stated that “Governor Oborevwori has approved a specific payment schedule, wherein the promotion arrears for staff in Higher Institutions within the state and the Post Primary Education Board (PPEB) will be disbursed in October and November 2023, respectively.

However, it seems that this promise has been conveniently brushed aside yet again. This blatant disregard and neglect for the welfare and well-being of teachers only serves to reinforce my previous assertion that teachers are not valued in our society.

Educators play a vital role in shaping the future generations of our state and country. They dedicate their time, knowledge, and passion to nurture young minds and empower them to reach their full potential. It is disheartening to see their efforts go unrecognized and their hard-earned wages withheld.

I implore you, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, to take immediate action in rectifying this situation. The teachers in Delta State have waited long enough for the payment of their arrears. They deserve to be treated with respect and fairness. By fulfilling the promise you made to teachers and ensuring that their remuneration is finally disbursed, you will not only restore their faith in the system but also uphold the values of justice and equality that our society cherishes.

I understand the challenges and constraints that you, as the Executive Governor, face, but I believe that by working together, we can find a solution that benefits both teachers and the state. Let us seize this opportunity to show our appreciation for the incredible contributions educators make each day.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I eagerly await your prompt response and action.

Yours sincerely, Sir , KSJI. Writes from Oyede, Isoko North.
