The Forum of state chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has advised President Bola Tinubu to take decisive action in addressing the escalating insecurity across the nation, including holding accountable security officials failing in their duties.

During a press briefing at the State House following a meeting with President Tinubu, the APC state chairmen shared insights into their discussions.

Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, Alphonsus Eba, the Secretary of the Forum and Chairman of the party in Cross River State, highlighted their concerns regarding the ongoing security challenges and the need for proactive measures.

 

 

Eba also addressed the recent controversies surrounding the APC governorship primary in Edo State, describing them as minor issues that are being addressed at the party leadership level.

Responding to inquiries about the government’s performance assessment, Eba urged against premature judgments, emphasizing that it is too early to evaluate the administration’s effectiveness within nine months, despite the party’s previous tenure in power over eight years ago.

The chairmen commended the administration’s economic policies and assured Nigerians of forthcoming meaningful reforms.

Eba also addressed the alarming trend of child kidnappings, particularly in Kaduna State, expressing the Forum’s deep concern. He emphasized the need for accountability among security officials, urging President Tinubu to take decisive actions against those found wanting.

Regarding the crisis in Edo State, Eba clarified that while the issue was discussed during their internal meeting, it was not brought up in their discussions with President Tinubu. He assured that internal party matters would be resolved through dialogue and party leadership interventions.

The Forum, comprising 33 out of 37 members present at the meeting with the President, emphasized their solidarity with the Nigerian leader and their commitment to addressing national challenges. They also shared proposed strategies for tackling the myriad challenges facing the country.
