The NDYC called for a comprehensive analysis of the legal complexities surrounding these electoral contests and urged the Appellate Court to provide consistent and coherent verdicts to enhance public confidence in the judiciary.

Uwejeyan expressed concern over the deviation from established electoral jurisprudence principles, citing specific instances in the Kano case. The group called for the Supreme Court to address the identified discrepancies and contradictions to safeguard the democratic system.

The identified discrepancies and contradictions in the Appellate Court’s rulings pose profound threats to Nigeria’s democratic system. They undermine equal treatment under the law, erode public trust, foment political instability, and create a fertile ground for social unrest,” warned Uwejeyan.

The NDYC concluded by urging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take decisive action to prevent potential anarchy and bloodshed. The group emphasized the broader consequences of the discordant verdicts and called for prompt intervention to preserve the integrity of Nigeria’s judiciary.

As the controversy unfolds, the spotlight remains on the Supreme Court’s role in addressing the anomalies and ensuring the democratic will of the people is not compromised. The NDYC stressed the urgency of the situation, signaling the potential consequences of inaction to the federal government and the international community.
