Tragedy Strikes as Bus Driver Collapses, Dies While Transporting Students to Campus.

 

In a tragic turn of events, a commercial bus driver identified simply as Lukman collapsed and lost his life while ferrying students to the University of Ilorin campus. The incident, which occurred on Friday, left occupants of the vehicle in a state of shock and disbelief.

According to an eyewitness account from one of the passengers, who took control of the bus to prevent further disaster, the driver suddenly slumped while the vehicle was in motion. The witness, engrossed in reading the Qur’an on his phone, was alerted by a fellow passenger shouting for help.

“I wasn’t looking up because I was reading the Qur’an on my phone,” the witness explained. “The other person beside me just called my attention, shouting ‘Baba’ multiple times. By the time I looked up, he was already gasping, and the bus was drifting away from the road. I had to press the brake, take control, and bring it to a halt.”

Despite efforts to revive the stricken driver, including fanning him and pouring water on his face, he showed no signs of responsiveness. Medical students onboard checked his pulse, which was fading rapidly. Despite swift action and attempts to rush him to the school clinic, the driver was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Sulyman Malik, a colleague of the deceased, corroborated the account, stating that the driver had recently expressed sympathy towards him regarding a previous accident.

“This just shows that this life is vanity,” Malik remarked. “He has since been buried according to Islamic rites. He was a very handsome man, and you would not think of his death even in the next 30 years.
