In a compelling plea, the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, has implored the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, to use her influence in persuading President Bola Tinubu to address the pressing economic challenges gripping the nation.

During the inauguration of the faculty of law at a private university in Kano, the Emir stressed the gravity of the situation and urged Tinubu’s wife to convey the stark reality of the country’s economic woes to the President.

Highlighting the severity of the situation, the Emir stated, “Although we have several means of communicating to the government on our needs and requests, but your way and means is the surest way to tell the President the actual happenings in the country.

Speaking through an interpreter, the monarch emphasized that while the issues of hunger and starvation predate the current administration, urgent attention is required to address the worsening conditions. The hunger and starvation didn’t start with this government, but the situation has become more alarming and needs urgent attention,” he expressed.

Addressing the persistent challenge of insecurity, the Emir called upon the First Lady to advocate for concrete measures, stating, “The issue of insecurity is another serious problem we are facing. I know your government inherited it, but something more serious should be done to take care of the threats.”

The Emir also voiced concerns over the relocation of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and certain departments of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to Lagos.

He urged the government to provide clarity on the matter, saying, “We are receiving series of messages from our people… We should be made to actually understand the reasons behind the relocation of the CBN and FAAN offices to Lagos.
