Both Naira Marley and Sam Larry, however, vehemently denied any criminal involvement in Mohbad’s death and asserted their alibi, claiming they were not complicit in the incidents that transpired during the specified period. Nevertheless, the police investigation has uncovered ample electronic and credible witness evidence that links them to allegations of cyberbullying, threats to life, and assault resulting in harm.

The crux of the matter revolves around a financial dispute between Sam Larry and the deceased, Mohbad. Sam Larry admitted to having multiple physical confrontations with Mohbad over a purported two-million-naira payment for a show that Mohbad allegedly did not honor.

During the course of the investigation, it was revealed that Mohbad had been signed by Naira Marley into a record label called Marlians Music Limited in 2019. Disagreements regarding the terms of the contract and Mohbad’s desire to sever ties with the label and his then-manager, who happened to be Naira Marley’s brother, reportedly triggered a series of alleged bullying, threats, and physical assaults against Mohbad by Naira Marley, Sam Larry, and their associates.

Witness testimonies, supported by corroborative video evidence, indicated that Mohbad had raised concerns about his safety and had alleged bullying and assaults perpetrated by Naira Marley and Sam Larry prior to his tragic demise.

In response to their arrest, Naira Marley and Sam Larry maintained their innocence, claiming they were out of the country when the incidents leading to Mohbad’s death occurred and were not involved in the chain of events. Nevertheless, a preponderance of evidence linking the two to allegations of threats to life, cyberstalking, and other crimes committed against Mohbad during his lifetime has led to their legal liability.
